How I Work: Two Areas of Expertise That Belong Together

My work focuses on two closely connected areas: Intercultural Competence and the leadership competence that supports it, Empathetic Leadership

Intercultural Competence

Intercultural competence is about more than understanding cultural differences on a theoretical level. It’s about becoming aware of how we see the world, how others may see it differently, and how these differences show up in everyday communication, collaboration, and decision-making.

In my training and coaching, I support people in reflecting on their own perspectives, recognizing unconscious patterns, and developing the confidence to navigate cultural differences with curiosity, respect, and clarity.

Empathetic Leadership

Empathetic Leadership is the leadership quality that makes intercultural competence truly effective. It is the ability to lead with empathy, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence—especially when situations are complex or unfamiliar.

Empathetic leaders listen deeply, communicate openly, and create trust. They are able to connect with people as individuals, while still providing direction and accountability.

Why I Combine Both

When both come together, leaders are able to build genuine connections across differences and create inclusive environments where people feel understood and valued.

This integrated approach is at the heart of my work. It helps individuals and leaders grow—not just in what they do, but in how they show up with others, across cultures and contexts.

 

 

EMPATHY  in leadership is the quiet strength of truly caring about people. It’s the ability to pause, listen, and sense what others may be experiencing—especially when things are uncertain or challenging.

An empathetic leader sees people not just in their roles, but as humans with perspectives, emotions, and needs. They create space for openness, respond with kindness and clarity, and make decisions that consider both impact and intention.

Empathy turns leadership into connection—and connection into meaningful, sustainable results.
